So many times, individuals receive information that is either outdated, or in fact, incomplete. Various sources of information on estate planning are available to individuals but this information does not plan for their specific situation. The tax laws of today are more complex than ever and come in may forms. Income tax, Social Security Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Intangible Tax, and the ever revolving question of Estate Taxes influence individuals to take a “wait and see” approach to planning their financial affairs. Many times, this can lead to an uninformed decision that may end up costing individuals who have worked long hours accumulating an estate precious time and money. The probate courts affect any individual having even a modest sized estate. Due to the increasing retirement population in Florida this court system, which publicly administers a decedent’s estate, has now become an expensive process averaging 12-18 months.
